| Standard Operating Procedures |
To establish the industry's most proven practices as daily routine and not a system of trial and error, DairyES has developed standard operating procedures for the dairy's critical production drivers. Examples of the procedures include:
- Animal health and reproduction - DairyES provides a treatment book, field diagnostic manual, reporting forms, sampling protocols for laboratory analysis, and supporting information on animal health and reproduction
- Dry cow, calving, and newborn calf management - standard operating procedures are available for each of these critical stages.
- Milking - procedures are available on milking routines and employee scheduling, pre- and post- milking, clean up, mastitis treatment, footbaths, and reporting forms.
|
| Customized Training Workshops |
DairyES offers several on-farm training workshops tailored to the particular needs of the individual dairy. One of the primary features of these workshops is the customized training materials developed specifically to the client's farm and application. The training materials remain with the farm and can be utilized as refresher training for present employees or as part of the orientation training for new staff members. All training materials can be updated to remain part of the dynamic training process for each dairy. Example topics include calving and calf management, pre-partum/post-partum management and feeding management. |
| Discovery Exercise |
Provides on-farm consulting support for producers planning a major dairy expansion or having herd management problems. Provides technical information and advice on cow comfort, building site selection, building options, financial feasibility, labor management, labor scheduling and dairy herd management practices.
|
| Initial Consultation |
Extensive scripted interview with client (including key decision makers) to: 1) discern vision for the project, 2) capture and prioritize a wants/needs list and 3) review and formulate plan. This would involve a site visit to the existing dairy to observe current management strategies and identify both weaknesses and strengths of the existing operation.
|
| Initial Layout |
After client has approved the written text description of the project, a CAD drawing is developed. A site visit is scheduled to discuss the first-draft facility layout including subsidiary elements (e.g. manure storage, feed storage, etc.).
|
| Layout Revisions |
Subsequent revisions of the initial layout as requested by client delivered either in person or remotely. If site visit is required, travel time will be billed at 50% rate.
|
| Plan Detail |
Drawings are augmented and refined to include greater detail including cross-sections, elevations, manure handling, process flows (people, cows, manure, milk, feed).
|
| Plan Detail Revisions |
Subsequent revisions of the initial layout as requested by client.
|
| Construction Consultation |
Site visit(s) during construction phase to assess contractor plans and processes from a operator/manager perspective - identify construction process issues (e.g. poor concrete pour/finish) and recommend appropriate solutions.
|
| On-Going Periodic Consultation |
Walk-throughs, performance analysis, discovery and discussion of performance limiters. |
